Lady in Red and Royal heart of Vienna – Palais Hansen Kempinski

The Kempinski name is proudly borne by a growing collection of distinguished properties around the world. As Europe’s oldest luxury hotel group, we are committed to providing our guests with memorable journeys inspired by exquisite European flair. They believe life should be lived with style.

Each year, an increasing number of guests come to appreciate these qualities, as Kempinski adds new, exciting destinations in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. While this growth reflects the strength and success of the Kempinski brand, the collection will remain a limited one, where exclusivity can be nurtured and individuality can flourish.

They really believe that their prestigious, European heritage puts Kempinski in a unique position to anticipate the future needs of the stylish and discerning traveller. It’s not good enough to simply provide a hotel bed and a meal, at Kempinski it’s all about bringing a story to life.

Since 1897, their employees have been a part of creating history around the world. From historic buildings to the most avant-garde of modern architecture, properties are the setting for some of life’s greatest moments. Witnessed historic meetings between world leaders, celebrities taking sanctuary in the world of calm they create for them, and created incredible memories for guests on a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ journey.

The hotel surprised us. Fully. We were sure we knew what to expect from such a well-known chain of hotels, in addition to that located in Vienna. As soon as we crossed the threshold of the hotel, the surprises were not over. The chandelier upside down, The nicest valets you’ve ever met, Huge Wall of (living!) plants, Perfect balcony in the middle level, European style broken by the eastern spiritas soon as you enter the SPA zone. Palais Hansen Kempinski knows that to be the best one still has to give the best. Everything that surrounds you in this interior screams – ,,it’s for you! We are trying for you!” You can say aha, like any five star hotel…. It’s not true that every five star hotel is good and gives the best. Do you know how to know the beauty of the place? People are the answer! Drinking a delicious cappuccino next to this incredible chandelier I saw a special moment. Two poor people entered the hotel, asking for water. Beautiful lady from reception talked to them like the most anticipated guests. She donated a bottle of water, and they came out of this unearthed hotel with a smile on their lips. It was one moment that showed the beauty of this place. The beauty of the interior built from human hearts.

“We had a couple stay with us who had been married for 40 years. The wife hadn’t been back to her homeland since marrying her Dutch husband all those decades ago. After welcoming them to the hotel and hearing how special it was for them to be reminiscing, I arranged for traditional Indonesian snacks to be delivered to their room throughout their stay. As a farewell gift, we presented them with a wayang – a traditional Indonesian wooden shadow puppet. They were so delighted, and we were happy to see how much this little surprise meant to them.”
