A SHELL SYMBOL THAT TELLS A STORY OF TRADITIONAL AND ELEGANT HOSPITALITY. WITH AN EYE TO THE FUTURE AND…… INTO THE MAGIC OF CASANOVA
Eclecticism, the contrast between modern and contemporary style, elegance and attention to detail are all features that make the five star deluxe Centurion Palace in Venice hotel, part of the Sina Fine Italian Hotels group, the perfect choice for those looking for designer taste and luxury in Venice. If you have enough tourists you have to go there. Here is our story….
Did you know the Casanova movie? Just before leaving for Venice we watched a great action with unforgettable Heath Ledger. Then I fell in love with him and in Venice. Especially in Venice…
We have heard from many Venetian friends that ,,Venice is not the same city now. Now there is no aristocracy and dignity here. Now it’s a place for millions of tourists from all over the world.” Walking down the streets of the city you can have that impression. You hear all the languages of the world, next to you. However, there is an exceptional place. Magic and crystal clear. Place in the world of Casanova. SINA Centurion Palace The place where style goes ahead of trends, but where the history is particularly visible.
The Hotel, with its own private landing stage and direct access onto the Grand Canal, is housed in the nineteenth-century palatial building known formerly as Palazzo Genovese. It is located near the San Gregorio monastery (late 12th century) in the Dorsoduro district, one of the oldest in Venice. Palazzo Genovese was designed in Venetian Gothic style in 1892 by architect Trigomi Mattei. It is built of brick and Istrian stone in the city’s traditional architectural style and colours, red and white.
The finely embroidered tracery of the Centurion Palace conceals the modern, eclectic personality of its interiors, which feature distinctive design, bold colours and unique décors. In fact, the talented, creative architect Guido Ciompi has devised interior designs that are classic yet contemporary in style. The distinctive décors, exclusive designs, exquisite materials and evocative colour schemes in which chocolate, orange, red and white prevail, are embellished with elegant Venetian style. Purchased by Sina Fine Italian Hotels for conversion into a five-star deluxe hotel, the palatial building was meticulously restored under the supervision of architect Luciano Parenti. “The building,” explains General Manager, Paolo Morra “has revealed a subtle connection between the city of the Doges and Rome. During excavations, a Roman coin came to light, which is now in the hands of the Soprintendenza dei Beni Archeologici. The coin bears the face of Antinous, Antinoo in Italian, famed for his close friendship with the Roman Emperor Hadrian, a patron of classic art. In honour of this discovery, the proprietors decided to name the restaurant and bar Antinoo’s after the Emperor’s young friend from Bythinia.“
Run by General Manager, Paolo Morra and a member of the exclusive “Small Luxury Hotels of the World”, the Centurion Palace offers five-star designer luxury, right in the artistic heart of one of the most romantic and magical cities in the world. It is strategically located, in Venice’s cultural triangle, between the Punta della Dogana art museum funded by the François Pinault Foundation, Palazzo Grassi and Palazzo Venier dei Leoni, which houses the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. The location is also unique due to its vicinity to other important sites in Venice, including the magnificent Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute and the Gallerie dell’Accademia museum gallery.
Luxury, great charm and refined elegance are the main distinctive features of the Hotel’s style. Every furnishing item has in fact been researched down to the minutest detail and many of the appointments are unique and made from precious materials and fabrics. The 50 guest rooms and suites, all different, are appointed in different fabrics. The rooms are further embellished with fireplaces and coffer ceilings, wooden staircases, top quality flooring materials and bathrooms featuring gold leaf decoration on resin walls. The unique, generously-sized presidential suite enjoys spectacular views over the Grand Canal; it comprises two bedrooms, each with its own private bathroom, a spacious living room and characteristic balconies. The contemporary style of the interiors makes this the ideal place for a very special stay; small receptions can also be organised. The Centurion Palace also has meeting rooms available for small events, which can be held outdoors during the warmer months; a gym on the top floor offers fitness facilities.
The contrast between ancient and modern is also a feature of Antinoo’s Lounge & Restaurant, the exclusive restaurant overlooking the Grand Canal, which provides a contemporary taste of Venice. Antinoo’s has been awarded “2 forks” in the 2014 edition of the Gambero Rosso Italian Restaurant Guide, and, for the second year running, “four red forks” by the Michelin Guide. It offers a menu inspired by traditional Venetian cuisine that has been creatively revisited by Executive Chef, Massimo Livan, who says “Venice, its history and its culinary traditions are great sources of inspiration. I often start out by studying recipes from the days of the Serenissima and then revisit and reinterpret them in a modern style.” Here once again elegance, designer taste and charm prevail. The bar, set against a delightful backdrop, becomes a picture in its own right to be admired from the comfort of the highly original purple wavy sofa. White on the other hand, in all its different nuances, provides the colour scheme for the restaurant, which affords a spectacular view over the Grand Canal.
THE DEVELOPMENT OF THIS PLACE IS JUST THE BEGINNING OF AN EXTRAORDINARY STORY.
